Collin Drent’s PhD thesis, supervised by Stella Kapodistria, received the Beta PhD award. The award, given every two years, selects nationally the best thesis in the area of Operations Management and Logistics on the criteria of scientific quality, originality, the quality of the presentation of the thesis, the scientific relevance, and the societal relevance. Collin’s work scored the top marks on all rubrics and was unanimously chosen as the winner among the shortlisted finalists. It is the third time our department has delivered the winner, with Andrei Sleptchenko and Johan van Leeuwaarden receiving the 2004 and 2006 awards. Congratulations to Stella and Collin for this newest distinction. Collin also received the Willem R. Van Zwet Award in March 2023.
